Company History

McLean Hardware was established in 1948 by Dick Hinkle as a local hardware store and was located at 6811 Old Dominion Drive. In 1984, Glenn Wiggs purchased the store, and after over 50 years at our old location, we moved to 1445 Chain Bridge Road (the old Gourmet Giant) on July 15, 2008. In June of 2021, Glenn passed away, and his son, and longtime staple of McLean Hardware, Chris Wiggs, took over the store.

McLean Hardware Co. is a family-owned business that has been serving its McLean clients for over 70 years. We have thrived and grown in size because of our excellent customer service, community involvement, and variety of merchandise.

Since 1948, McLean Hardware Co., Inc. has maintained a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, evolving alongside the needs of homeowners and contractors in the community.

We are also the chief sponsors of McLean Youth Sports, McLean High School, Langley High School, O’Connell High School, Potomac School, The Langley School, and various other middle and elementary schools.

We sponsor Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, the McLean Rotary Club, the Washington Nationals, and other community institutions. We were voted Best of Fairfax in 2025.
